on the wrong way out - on the causeway to neverwhere
Heylo. Went with  JJ and Issa to see the Thursday/Thrice/Coheed & Cambria show last night. Coheed is the only band of those I really like, and I was disappointed to see them only play 6 songs - 4 from the inferior old CD - leaving the awesome "A Favor House Atlantic" and the quite gay "Blood Red Summer" as the only songs from the new CD they played. No "In Keeping Secrets...", "Cuts Marked...", "Three Evils", or "The Crowing."  They were still good though. Saw Effie and Nessa there. *waves* And I picked up a t-shirt for a mere $12! Sweet. Thrice screamed a lot. I am not a fan of Thursday, but I give them props on their live performance. I watched a few songs of theirs but decided that I would rather watch naked chicks instead of the rest of Thursday's set, so I left and chilled over at Aphrodite's for a bit until the concert ended. And that was my Wednesday. I will be switching my livejournal over to tessai very soon, so add me. Tessai apparently means "made from iron" in Japanese. A fitting name for the character in Ninja Scroll. It is also the name of a 19th century Japanese painter. Bye bye, beautiful... don't bother to write
First of all, the big news. We finally decided on a band name, and it is: Tessai.(pronounced Teh-sigh.) Download our song Disturbance.That topped off an awesome weekend. Friday night was spent at Ale House with Nicole, JJ, Issa, Ikam, Michelle, Danelys, and Luis. They have improved their wings dramatically. I also introduced Nicole to the wonder that is Liquid Cocaine. Issa had brought T3 on DVD, so we watched some of that in SENITAVISION ® - and I will definitely be getting the DVD if only to give my home theater a workout with the crane chase scene. Awesome. Saturday was A PERFECT CIRCLE. Apart from getting drenched with rain, and one of the most horrible opening bands ever (I'm convinced that big bands take crappy acts on tour with them so that they will seem better by comparison), they fucking rocked. Maynard was perfect the entire show, he is still the best singer in the world, and Josh Freese is a fucking badass. The rest of the band was tight except for a couple noticeable mistakes, but otherwise the show ruled. They played just about every song you could have asked for, except Breña. Today Nicole and I woke up early to go to some lecture on the Kabbalah at the Miami Book Fair for extra credit in her religion class, and after that we came home and napped for a while, then cleaned the house. She did most of the work but we vacuumed, dusted, mopped, did laundry, and threw out a bunch of shit including some last remnants of Lauren's which I was relieved to dispose of. Then I headed over to Damian's for the "let's pick a name already" meeting. Now I'm off to watch Finding Nemo with Nicole. Hope everyone had a good weekend. My sweetie is snoring softly behind me while I check livejournal with the Beatles playing quietly on my player. :) The weekend has been awesome. Halloween was fun, I went to work dressed up in my gangster/White Morpheus costume, and a bunch of people dressed up as usual. And of course my bosses had lots of breakfasty food to go along with the tons of candy. So Friday was a fun day at work. I left early, tried to stop at Toys "R" Us and Party City to see if I could find a cheap toy machine gun to go with my costume, but no dice. So then I watched a couple more episodes of 24 (best show ever) before Nicole came over and we headed out to Eddie's party after a quickie and a stop at Eckerd's to buy a disposable camera. Finally we got there and it was kinda weak, I think due to the absence of the usual kegs and the presence of his parents and such. But we stuck around for a bit and hung out with JJ, Luis, Michelle, Danelys, Emily, Maggie, the other Michelle and the other Vanessa. Then we all (minus Michelle and Danelys) left to go to my place where Eek joined us to drink a few beers and play some Improv, which was of course a blast. We even got Emily and her friends to go up and do a couple skits. Highlights included me and JJ as Tommy Lee & Pam Anderson filming "the video", Javi (who showed up later) and JJ as Vanilla Ice and Method Man (Vanilla trying to join the Wu), Emily as Brock Berlin with Luis as a UM cheerleader wanting to sleep with him, and Michelle and Maggie as an underage girl trying to buy lesbian porn from an uptight cashier. All we needed was Michelle's Mexican prostitute and Ashleigh's flippety mermaid and the night would have been complete. Yesterday I slept until around 1:30, then went over to my mom's for a bit. Eek ended up meeting me there and we took off to Ft. Lauderdale to meet up with Alex & Jen and their friends Dan & Jen (I think?) for some food at Hooters. That was cool, then we drove back down to meet up with everyone to head out to Just The Funny. It was me, Nicole, Eek, JJ, Michelle, Tom, Rob & his sister whose name I forgot, Raf and his friend Tony. That was hilarious as usual... though I think me/JJ/Michelle could easily do improv as well as them. Because we rock. Anyway after that we passed by Casolas, but didn't stay due to it somehow becoming the ghetto high school hangout of Miami. So me, Nicole, Eek and JJ went to Chili's which is always good. Then we played some Taboo at my place before crashing. Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Yesterday at lunch I walked over to UM's food court to get my quesadilla fix from Taco Bell. Waiting there to get his food when I arrived: Kellen Winslow. So I shook his hand and told him he was a badass. So for all you fuckholes who say Taco Bell sucks, the food is crappy, whatever - if it's good enough for one of the top college football players in the country, it's good enough for you and me! Heylo... The weekend's been good. Hooray for weekends. Friday night I took Nicole to meet my friends (JJ, Eek and Michelle) at Olive Garden. Nicole had stuffed mushrooms and I had cheese ravioli. Our waitress sucked. Then we (minus Michelle) moved to my place and drank and played Fotch and Improv. We had a blast and Nicole has never laughed so hard. :) Nicole fell in love with Eek (but to know her is to love her). However, my poor sweetie drank too much alcohol, and puked up her stuffed mushrooms and passed out in the bathroom. I tried to help her but she wouldn't let me. Ah well, the dark side of alcohol. Saturday was basically a lazy day taking care of Nicole and her hangover until about 5:00, and then I was off to Damian and Carla's wedding. It was at the Ancient Spanish Monastery in North Miami Beach. It was really nice. I sat with my band and all their girlfriends, Phil and Peter and Monica. We ate and drank and danced and joked around and had fun. Carla looked so beautiful in her dress. Damian and Peter looked badass in their tuxedos. And Phil looked like Furio. I'm so happy for them. And the Marlins are the world champs! Woohoo! Now I'm at my mom's watching football and doing laundry. We went to see Intolerable Cruelty earlier in the afternoon, and it was decent, with the Coen bros.' imprint very much in evidence. That Nextel "pursue the Pittsburgh property pronto" commercial wins the week's "FUCKING GAY" award. Finally, the survey that everyone is doing.
